Eva Schueller is a seasoned litigator with over fifteen years of experience navigating high-stakes business disputes and delivering results in complex commercial litigation, international and domestic arbitration, and corporate investigations. She has depth in the technology, consumer goods, cryptocurrency, and sports sectors. Her track record spans federal and state courts, arbitral tribunals, and cross-border forums.
She has defended major technology companies in consumer class actions, including multidistrict litigation involving Section 230 immunity, data privacy, false advertising, and unfair business practices claims. She has compelled dozens of cases to arbitration and has successfully defended platforms in multiple consumer arbitrations. Other notable results include recently obtaining full dismissal of all claims against a client under California’s anti-SLAPP statute, complete defense awards in licensing and trade secret disputes, and a full defense award for the developer of a luxury resort after a contested arbitration involving contract and tort claims. She also secured summary judgment on behalf of a national retailer in a commercial lease dispute and obtained a demurrer without leave to amend for a real estate developer in litigation involving the sale of a major commercial building in San Francisco.
Before joining Illovsky Gates & Calia LLP, Evi honed her skills at DLA Piper LLP, where she managed high-profile cases and complex investigations. Her career also includes serving as Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General of the Civil Division at the U.S. Department of Justice, where she tackled healthcare fraud and probed the role of ratings agencies in the 2008 financial crisis. As an Alameda County Deputy County Counsel, Evi successfully defended County agencies in contentious constitutional litigation and provided guidance on complex statutory compliance issues.
After clerking for Chief Judge Mary M. Schroeder of the Ninth Circuit, Evi began her law practice at Morrison & Foerster LLP, where she defended against securities class actions and wire fraud, data misuse, and defended major technology companies in class action lawsuits and cross-border arbitrations. She is also committed to pro bono work and spent over two years as a legal consultant for a human rights organization in Cambodia, where she supported local attorneys with international tribunal submissions and investigated labor trafficking and supply chain issues.
A proud alumna of the Cal Women’s Water Polo team, Evi is a passionate supporter of collegiate athletics and understands the unique and currently chaotic legal landscape facing sports organizations and athletes. Go Bears!
